Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully identified the main features of the data and provided a clear overview. You included data from both the chart and the table, which is essential for this task. However, there is a factual error in your final paragraph: you state that the value for gems and jewellery decreased to '41%', but the data refers to billions, not percentages. Additionally, while you mention the percentage changes, ensure you consistently link these to the actual values to provide a more comprehensive summary. Overall, you have addressed all parts of the prompt effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The response is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'In contrast', and 'respectively' to connect your ideas. However, the progression of ideas could be smoother; for instance, the transition between the general overview and the specific details is slightly abrupt. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different categories of data. The use of referencing is generally clear, though some minor improvements in linking sentences would enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'downward trend', 'proportion', and 'earning'. There are some spelling errors, such as 'comparision', 'wheares', 'experieneced', 'pertroleum', 'increaed', and 'silghtly', which detract from the overall quality. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the meaning, the frequent spelling mistakes suggest a need for more careful proofreading. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise collocations related to data description, such as 'witnessed a marginal decline' instead of 'slightly decreased'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as the use of relative clauses ('which then increased by 8.5%'). There are several grammatical inaccuracies, such as 'the earning... is increased' (should be 'increased' or 'has increased') and 'highest changes' (should be 'greatest change'). Additionally, there is a confusion between units, where you refer to '41%' instead of '41 billion'. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent use of units.
