Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the task by identifying the main features and providing a summary. You have successfully highlighted the key trends, such as the growth in textiles and the decline in gems and jewellery. However, the response lacks a clear presentation of the actual values (the bar chart data), focusing almost exclusively on the percentage changes from the table. To achieve a higher band, you should integrate the specific export values from the bar chart to provide a more comprehensive overview of the data provided. The overview is present but could be more analytical by grouping categories more effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into an introduction, a body paragraph, and a concluding summary. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'For instance', 'Moreover', and 'In a nut shell', which help the flow of information. However, the transition between the introduction and the body could be smoother, and some of the linking phrases feel slightly mechanical. The paragraphing is appropriate for a short report, but ensure that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus to improve the overall progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'predominates', 'substantial', and 'export earnings'. There are some minor spelling errors, such as 'jwellery' instead of 'jewellery'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the meaning, it lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher bands. To improve, try to use more varied reporting verbs and avoid repeating the same phrases. The range is sufficient for the task but does not show a high degree of flexibility.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that affect the quality of the writing, such as 'The bar graph compare's' (subject-verb agreement/punctuation error), 'numerous changes has been observed' (subject-verb agreement), and 'a decrease of a 5.18% in export earning observed' (missing auxiliary verb). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles will significantly improve your accuracy.
