Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which severely limits the ability to address all parts of the task. While the student attempts to identify some data points, the response is incomplete and cuts off mid-sentence. Because the summary is unfinished, it fails to report the main features or make meaningful comparisons across all categories. To improve, you must ensure you cover all data categories provided in the prompt and provide a complete overview. The current length prevents a higher score as the task is not fully addressed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response shows a basic attempt at logical organization by using an introductory sentence and a transition phrase ('To commence with'). However, the text is too short to demonstrate effective paragraphing or a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are limited and mechanical. The abrupt ending of the text further disrupts the flow and coherence of the summary. To achieve a higher band, you should aim to structure your response with a clear introduction, a body paragraph grouping the main trends, and a concluding overview, ensuring that ideas are linked smoothly throughout.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is limited and contains errors that occasionally impede clarity, such as 'estimate earning' instead of 'estimated earnings' and 'next years' instead of 'the following year'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate flexibility or precision. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'minor export' when referring to a decrease in value. To improve, focus on using more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'experienced a decline', or 'showed an upward trend', and ensure accurate word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains several grammatical errors that affect the accuracy of the information provided. For example, 'The given bar graph illustrate' should be 'illustrates' (subject-verb agreement), and '66 to 64.5$ billion dollar' is incorrectly phrased. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the punctuation is inconsistent. The errors are frequent relative to the short length of the text. To improve, practice subject-verb agreement and the correct placement of currency symbols and units of measurement. Focus on constructing complete, error-free sentences before attempting more complex structures.
