Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the task by identifying main features and making comparisons. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. You mention specific categories like 'petroleum products' and 'gems and jewellery', but the reporting of the data is occasionally inaccurate or confusing (e.g., stating textiles were 'double' compared to engineered goods without clear reference to the actual figures). To reach a higher band, ensure that the data selected is clearly linked to the provided chart and table. The overview is present but could be more effectively integrated to highlight the most significant trends rather than just listing individual category changes.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression is hindered by the use of somewhat mechanical cohesive devices. Phrases like 'In the terms of' and 'Whereas' are used, but the flow between sentences is often disjointed. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the two years and the percentage changes. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'made big difference' and 'negligible difference to enhance'. Additionally, there are minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'one country,s' (punctuation error) and 'percent of Exporting Earnings'. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary to describe trends and data, such as 'significant increase', 'marginal change', or 'fluctuation', rather than relying on informal or repetitive phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'petroleum products were increased 3 percent' (incorrect passive voice), 'during in a year' (preposition error), and 'as compare to' (incorrect comparative structure). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and apostrophes. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions.
