Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully identified the main features of the data, including the values for 2015 and 2016 and the percentage changes. You have made relevant comparisons between categories. However, the response lacks a clear overview of the most significant trends. While you mention the downfall of gems and jewellery and the rise of textiles in the final paragraph, a more cohesive summary of the overall performance of the export categories would strengthen the response. Additionally, some data points are slightly inaccurate or confusingly phrased, such as the claim that petroleum and engineered goods were the same in 2016, which requires more precise interpretation of the chart.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The response is logically organized into paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs for the chart and table data, and a concluding summary. You use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Overall' to guide the reader. However, the progression within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical. For example, the transition between discussing the chart and the table could be smoother. Referencing is generally clear, but the connection between the two data sets could be better integrated to show a more sophisticated understanding of the relationship between the values and the percentage changes.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'earnings', 'proportion', and 'categories'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For instance, 'exporting of petroleum goods... was same' is slightly awkward, and 'rosed' is an incorrect past tense form of 'rise'. You rely on basic descriptors and could benefit from using more varied synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' to avoid repetition. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the meaning, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'in year 2015' (missing 'the'), 'was same' (missing 'the'), and 'agricultural products earned 4 billion dollars extra then textiles' (should be 'than'). The use of 'rosed' is a notable error. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a lack of control over complex structures. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and the proper formation of past tense verbs.
