Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all categories and includes both the chart and table data. However, the reporting of data is sometimes inaccurate; for example, you state petroleum went from $63 to $62 billion, while the chart shows an increase. Additionally, the description of the data is somewhat mechanical, listing figures without consistently highlighting the most significant trends or making meaningful comparisons between categories. To reach a higher band, ensure data accuracy and focus on grouping information logically to provide a clearer overview of the main features rather than just listing individual values.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'In 2015' and 'In 2016' to start sentences. The transition between the description of the chart and the table is abrupt. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words and phrases (e.g., 'In contrast,' 'Furthermore,' 'Conversely') to connect ideas more fluidly and improve the logical flow between sentences and paragraphs.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely heavily on basic terms like 'value,' 'amount,' and 'price,' and use phrases like 'huge increased' or 'to much profit,' which are grammatically incorrect and imprecise. There is little attempt to use more sophisticated vocabulary related to data trends (e.g., 'fluctuated,' 'surpassed,' 'marginal,' 'significant'). Expanding your range of descriptive adjectives and adverbs would help convey the data more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include incorrect verb forms ('huge increased'), subject-verb agreement, and awkward phrasing ('Textiles have to much profit'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the placement of numbers and currency symbols. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for tense consistency would be beneficial.
