Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task by describing the bar chart and the table. However, the analysis is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear overview of the main trends. For instance, you list categories individually rather than grouping them to highlight significant changes or overall patterns. The data interpretation is also slightly inaccurate in places; for example, you refer to percentages when the chart clearly indicates billions of dollars. To improve, ensure you identify the most significant features, such as which category saw the most dramatic growth or decline, and provide a clear summary paragraph that synthesizes the information rather than just listing it.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often awkward or unnatural, such as 'To Embark with' and 'Moving,on to we have'. These phrases do not function well as logical connectors. Additionally, the progression of ideas within paragraphs is somewhat disjointed, as the transition between the bar chart description and the table analysis is abrupt. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words (e.g., 'In contrast', 'Furthermore', 'Consequently') would significantly enhance the flow and logical progression of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate to convey the basic information, but it lacks the precision required for a higher band. You rely on simple descriptors like 'a little more' or 'a bit', which are not appropriate for describing statistical data. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'earning' instead of 'earnings' and 'Engineered goods' (which should be 'Engineering goods'). To achieve a higher score, you should use more precise terminology for describing trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'experienced a marginal increase', and ensure you use the correct units of measurement (billions vs. percentages).
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include incorrect verb tense usage (e.g., 'Petroleum products has been' instead of 'were'), punctuation errors (e.g., 'Moving,on to'), and missing articles. Some sentences are also fragmented or poorly constructed, such as 'The last we have textiles which is same as agricultural products'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage when describing past data will help improve your accuracy.
