Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully identified the main features of the data and provided a clear overview. You included specific figures from both the bar chart and the table, which is essential for a high score. However, there are some inaccuracies in your reporting; for example, you stated petroleum products were $61 billion in 2016 and $60 billion in 2015, but the chart shows the reverse. Additionally, your description of the percentage changes is slightly confusing in places, such as saying petroleum 'increased to 3%'. It would be more precise to say it 'increased by 3%'. Ensure you double-check the data points against the visual aids to avoid factual errors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The response is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs focusing on different aspects of the data, and a summary. You use cohesive devices like 'In detail', 'Furthermore', 'In contrast', and 'Overall' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the phrase 'the second notable changed happened to the engineered goods'. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring that pronouns or references clearly point back to the intended subject would enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information, using terms like 'revenue', 'accounted for', 'soared', and 'dominated'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'the bar graph illustrate' (should be 'illustrates') and 'the second notable changed' (should be 'change'). You also use 'Germs' instead of 'Gems', which is a significant spelling error that changes the meaning of the word. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensure accurate spelling of key terms related to the data.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('the bar graph illustrate', 'export revenue were'), incorrect verb tenses ('after experienced a decreased'), and awkward phrasing ('the petroleum products were increased to 3%'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage when describing past data.
