Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which severely limits the ability to fully address the task. While you have identified the main features, such as the leading export categories and the growth in textiles, the analysis is incomplete and cuts off mid-sentence. To achieve a higher band, you must provide a comprehensive overview, include all relevant data points, and ensure the response is of sufficient length to allow for a full comparison of the categories provided in the chart and table. Currently, the lack of completion prevents a full assessment of the data.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response shows a basic attempt at logical organization by providing an introduction and an overview. However, because the text is incomplete and ends abruptly, it is impossible to evaluate the overall progression or the effective use of cohesive devices. The paragraphing is also insufficient due to the limited length. To improve, ensure you structure your report with a clear introduction, a distinct overview, and body paragraphs that group information logically, using linking words like 'whereas' or 'in contrast' to connect your points.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally appropriate for the task, such as 'export earnings', 'proportion difference', and 'categories'. However, the range is limited, and there are some minor inaccuracies, such as 'contribute maximum export earning' instead of 'contributed the maximum export earnings'. The incomplete nature of the text restricts the demonstration of a wider range of vocabulary. To improve, focus on using more precise terminology for describing trends, such as 'experienced a significant rise' or 'remained relatively stable', and ensure correct collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures. There are grammatical errors, such as the comma splice in the first sentence ('The data displays, export earnings...') and the incorrect use of 'contributing more that' instead of 'contributing more than'. The sentence structure is also affected by the abrupt ending. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions. Practice writing complete, error-free sentences and ensure that your punctuation is used to clarify meaning rather than hinder it.
