Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the task by identifying the main features of the chart and table. You have successfully compared the 2015 and 2016 data and highlighted key trends. However, the overview is slightly weak; while you mention the textile industry and gems/jewellery, it could be more comprehensive by summarizing the overall growth trend across most sectors. Additionally, there is a minor error in your data interpretation: you mention '25 millions' for textiles, whereas the chart indicates '25 billions'. Accuracy in data reporting is essential for a higher band score. Ensure you double-check the units provided in the prompt to avoid misrepresenting the information.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Overall' and 'while', to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs could be smoother. Some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the phrase 'which is fall in income', which disrupts the logical progression. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through the data analysis.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'roses in minor exporting' (likely meant 'rose') and 'edge down'. These errors occasionally impede the clarity of your report. You attempt to use some specific terminology related to the data, but the range is somewhat limited. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'surpassed', or 'marginal increase', and ensure that your collocations are natural and accurate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'The chart illustrate' (subject-verb agreement), 'in different sectorsin' (spacing/typo), and 'climb less then 1%' (preposition/comparative error). These errors are noticeable and occur frequently, though they do not completely prevent the reader from understanding the main points. To improve, focus on basic subject-verb agreement, correct verb tense usage when describing past data, and proofreading for common typographical errors that detract from the professional tone of your writing.
