Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers the main features of the data, including the overall trends and specific comparisons between 2015 and 2016. However, the report is marred by significant inaccuracies in data interpretation. For example, you state that petroleum products generated '62% $ billions', which is a confusing mix of units, and the figures provided often do not align with the provided chart. While you attempt to highlight the main trends, such as the decline in gems and jewellery and the growth in textiles, the lack of precision in reporting the data prevents a higher score. To improve, ensure you accurately transcribe the figures and units from the chart and table.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the flow of ideas is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often applied incorrectly or in a mechanical way, such as 'in contrast the grms and jewellery fell'. The transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is somewhat abrupt. To improve, focus on using linking words more naturally and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that connects logically to the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and often inaccurate, which occasionally causes confusion. There are frequent spelling errors, such as 'ganrated', 'repernanting', 'compaired', 'grms', 'aproxtlymently', and 'subtaitale'. Additionally, the use of 'highly recomanded' to describe export revenue is inappropriate in this context. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'revenues' and 'categories', the high frequency of spelling and word-choice errors limits the range and precision of your writing. Focusing on accurate spelling and learning standard collocations for describing data trends will significantly improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a high frequency of grammatical errors that often impede clarity. There are persistent issues with sentence structure, such as fragments ('and also the table chat described...') and incorrect verb forms ('decress the 5.18%'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with misplaced periods and missing capital letters. While you attempt to use some complex structures, they are frequently faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction—ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb—and proofreading for common errors in tense and word order.
