Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers all parts of the task by summarizing the main features of both the bar chart and the table. You successfully identified the top categories and noted the trends over the two-year period. However, there are some inaccuracies in data reporting; for example, you mentioned '45 million' for gems and jewelry, whereas the chart indicates '45 billion'. Additionally, the comparison between the bar chart data and the percentage change table could be more integrated to highlight the relationship between the two. To reach a higher band, ensure that all figures are transcribed accurately and that the overview clearly synthesizes the main trends rather than just listing them.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The response is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on the chart and the table respectively. There is a clear progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'At last, gems and jewelry shows average p[ercentage'. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the transition between the description of the bar chart and the table could be smoother to improve the overall flow of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'earning', 'categories', and 'percentage change'. There are some instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'selling' instead of 'exports' or 'value'. Additionally, there are minor spelling errors like 'p[ercentage'. To improve, try to use more varied collocations and ensure that technical terms are used precisely. The range is sufficient to convey the main points, but it lacks the flexibility and precision required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'These includes' (subject-verb agreement), 'lowest percentage' (missing article), and 'it raised to' (incorrect verb usage; 'rose' would be correct). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor slips throughout. The frequency of these errors does not impede communication, but they prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct verb tense usage will help improve your accuracy.
