Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the task by identifying the main features of the chart and table. However, the report is largely a list of data points rather than a cohesive summary. While you mention the categories and values, you fail to integrate the percentage change data provided in the table, which is a key requirement of the prompt. The overview is also quite weak; instead of summarizing the overall trends, you simply list categories. To improve, you should group the data (e.g., categories that increased vs. those that decreased) and synthesize the information rather than describing each item individually.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into short, repetitive paragraphs that function more like a list than a report. The use of cohesive devices is very limited, relying heavily on simple sentence structures and repetitive phrasing like 'In [category] it earns'. There is no clear progression of ideas between paragraphs. To improve, use linking words such as 'conversely', 'in contrast', or 'meanwhile' to connect your points and create a smoother flow between the different export categories.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive. You use the word 'earns' repeatedly to describe export values, which limits the range of your writing. There are also some minor errors in word choice, such as 'germs' instead of 'gems' and 'more better', which is grammatically incorrect. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate a wider variety of verbs and nouns related to data reporting, such as 'generated', 'accounted for', 'experienced a rise', or 'fluctuated'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response relies almost exclusively on simple sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'On the chart, it shows', 'dark grey foe 2015', and the comparative error 'more better'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and the inclusion of 'etc' inside parentheses. To improve, try to incorporate complex sentences using subordinating conjunctions (e.g., 'While petroleum exports rose, gems and jewellery saw a decline') and ensure subject-verb agreement is consistent throughout.
