Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. While you have identified some main features, the analysis is incomplete. You have not included data for all categories mentioned in the prompt, such as agricultural products or textiles in the body paragraphs. Furthermore, the overview is somewhat vague and focuses too heavily on petroleum products rather than providing a comprehensive summary of the trends across all categories. To improve, ensure you cover all data points provided in the charts and provide a more balanced overview that highlights the most significant changes across all export categories.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into three paragraphs, which is a standard structure. However, the progression of ideas is somewhat mechanical. The use of cohesive devices is limited and occasionally repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'on the other hand' and 'we can easily see'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs could be smoother. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, distinct focus that contributes to the overall logical flow of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'demonstrate the export earnings also the change' and 'categorize products'. You rely on basic descriptors like 'very low' and 'little bit of difference'. To achieve a higher score, you should aim to use more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'experienced a marginal increase', or 'remained relatively stable'. Additionally, ensure you use the correct word forms, such as 'categorized' instead of 'categorize'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('chart demonstrate', 'graph illustrate'), incorrect preposition usage ('difference of 8.5%'), and awkward sentence structures ('To easily understood the chart'). The range of sentence structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple or compound sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and punctuation. Incorporating more complex sentence structures, such as using relative clauses or participial phrases, would also help demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
