Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the task by summarizing the main features of the chart and table. However, there are significant inaccuracies in the data reporting. For example, you state that petroleum products increased to 'almost 65 billion' and engineered goods decreased to 'over 50 billion', which misinterprets the provided figures. Furthermore, the description of the table is confusing; you describe the percentage change as 'value percentage', which is a misinterpretation of the data provided in the table. While you attempt to cover all categories, the lack of precision in reporting the data prevents a higher score. To improve, ensure you carefully cross-reference the visual data with your text to avoid factual errors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'On the other hand', and 'In addition' to link ideas. However, the progression within paragraphs is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the third paragraph where the transition between describing different export items is abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as the phrase 'it is fluctuating in a year', where the antecedent is ambiguous. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring that cohesive devices are used to connect related ideas more naturally would enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'illustrates', 'depicts', 'fluctuating', and 'categories'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'the country's exported' (should be 'exports') and 'records over 50 billion dollars' (repetitive use of 'records'). You also struggle with accurate terminology regarding the data, confusing 'value' with 'percentage change'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensure that your word choices are contextually appropriate for describing statistical data.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'the country's exported' (incorrect verb form), 'the table depicts the comparison change in 2016 and 2015' (awkward phrasing), and 'it agricultural and textile are gradually decreasing' (missing subject/article). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are issues with sentence boundaries and comma usage. While the meaning is usually clear, the frequency of these errors suggests a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of subject-verb agreement and article usage.
