The chart below shows the value of one country’s exports in various categories during 2015 and 2016. The table shows the percentage change in each category of exports in 2016 compared with 2015.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

The bar chart illustrates the earning of a country from in five different categories exports between 2015 and 2016 while the tables compares date on how much the percentage change in each category of exports in 2016 with 2015.

Overall, it can be clearly seen that petroleum was the biggest source of earning in both year whereas textiles had the lowest contribution. However, Engineered goods and garments and jewellery both experienced slight fluctuations over the year. Moreover, the percentage of each category export increased except for the Gems and Jewellery.

In 2015, petroleum products export stood at 60 billions which increased slightly to 62 billion in 2016. Similarly, export of engineered goods started at around 56 billion in 2015, rose slightly to nearly 61billion the next year. The figure for Textiles stood at approximately 25 billion in 2015 increased to around 31billion by 2016. In contrast, gems and jewellery began at 41billion,
