Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. While you have attempted to identify some main features, the analysis is superficial and lacks a clear overview of the data. You have mentioned specific figures for engineered goods and textiles, but the report lacks a comprehensive comparison across all categories. Furthermore, the failure to reach the required length means that the information is not fully developed, and the summary of the data is incomplete. To improve, ensure you provide a clear, distinct overview paragraph and cover all categories presented in the chart and table with more detailed comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response lacks a clear paragraph structure, which is essential for an Academic Task 1 report. While there is an attempt at an introduction and an overall summary, the body of the text is a single, poorly organized paragraph. Cohesive devices are used in a very limited and sometimes mechanical way, such as 'Furthermore' and 'overall'. The progression of ideas is difficult to follow because the sentences are not logically linked to one another. To improve, you should organize your report into clear paragraphs: an introduction, an overview of the main trends, and two body paragraphs that group related data together using a wider range of linking words.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is quite basic and repetitive, which limits your ability to describe the data precisely. There are several spelling errors, such as 'showes' instead of 'shows', 'increces' instead of 'increased', and 'depreceation' instead of 'depreciation'. Additionally, the phrase 'in hole year' is incorrect. You rely on simple verbs like 'show' and 'seen' rather than using more precise academic vocabulary related to trends and data analysis, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'experienced a decline'. Expanding your range of vocabulary and focusing on accurate spelling will help you convey information more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's understanding. There are issues with article usage ('the ratio', 'the each category'), subject-verb agreement ('chart showes'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on or lack proper punctuation, making the text feel disjointed. You have not demonstrated the ability to use complex sentence structures effectively. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct subject-verb agreement and the appropriate use of articles. Once you have a solid foundation, practice incorporating complex sentences using subordinating conjunctions to improve your grammatical range.
