Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features and making comparisons. You have successfully highlighted the dominance of Petroleum products and the contrasting trends in other categories. However, there are some inaccuracies in the data reporting. For instance, you stated that Agricultural products remained the same, whereas the table indicates a 0.81% change. Additionally, the description of the 2015 figures for Petroleum products as '60 billions' is slightly imprecise given the chart's scale. To reach a higher band, ensure that data points are transcribed with absolute precision and that the overview clearly synthesizes the most significant trends rather than just listing individual category changes.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs focusing on the chart and table respectively. You use some cohesive devices such as 'meanwhile', 'on the other hand', and 'furthermore' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel slightly forced. The referencing is generally clear, but the connection between the chart data and the table data could be more seamless. Improving the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring they are used to create a smoother narrative flow will help elevate your score in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluctuated', 'dominant', 'surged', and 'alterations'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'earning of Petroleum products were' (should be 'earnings') and 'peaked at by indicating'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the meaning, it lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more precise reporting verbs and nouns, and ensure that you use the correct plural or singular forms when discussing financial data.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Petroleum products were remain dominant', 'earning... were 60 billions') and tense consistency. Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'Textiles goods peaked at by indicating 15.24%'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points, they are noticeable and occur throughout the text. Focusing on basic grammatical accuracy, especially subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions, will significantly improve your writing.
