Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the task by identifying main features, such as the highest and lowest categories. However, the data presentation is inconsistent and confusing. For instance, the text mentions '65 billions' for both petroleum and engineering goods in 2016, which is not clearly supported by the provided visual data. Additionally, the summary of the percentage changes is disjointed, and the inclusion of '28 billions earning in 2015' as a standalone sentence disrupts the flow. While the main trends are touched upon, the lack of precision in reporting the data and the failure to clearly distinguish between the bar chart values and the table percentages limit the effectiveness of the response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the internal structure is weak. The progression of ideas is often illogical, particularly in the second paragraph where the transition between figures and percentages is abrupt. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Turning to details' and 'in contrast', but they are often applied mechanically or incorrectly. Referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow which data point belongs to which category or year. The overall arrangement lacks a clear, logical flow, which hinders the reader's ability to synthesize the information provided in the charts.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited and repetitive. There are several spelling errors, such as 'diffrent', 'registed', and 'billons', which occur frequently. The student relies on basic terminology and struggles with collocations, for example, 'stood for the lowest exchange value' and 'textiles figure surge rose'. While the student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'proportion', 'downward trend', and 'upward trend', the misuse of these terms and the persistent spelling inaccuracies indicate a lack of control. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the basic meaning but lacks the precision required for a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('The bar chart and table illustrates'), missing articles, and incorrect punctuation. Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors, such as 'textiles figure surge rose to 15.24 in the period of 2015 and 2016'. Punctuation is inconsistent, with spaces missing after commas and periods. These frequent errors, while not always impeding communication, are pervasive throughout the text and demonstrate a lack of control over basic grammatical structures.
