Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address the task but fails to accurately report the data provided. There are significant factual errors, such as referencing 2014 data which is not present in the prompt, and misinterpreting the years (the prompt specifies 2015 and 2016). The overview is vague and lacks a clear summary of the main trends. While the response identifies some categories, the lack of accuracy in reporting the figures and the confusion regarding the timeframes mean the task is only partially addressed. To improve, ensure you strictly follow the data provided in the prompt and double-check the years and figures before writing.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or incorrect, such as starting sentences with 'While' or 'However' in ways that do not connect to the previous thought. For example, 'While table illustrates the changes...' is a sentence fragment. Referencing is often unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the years. The transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is abrupt, and the lack of clear signposting makes the information feel disjointed.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'diametrically change in year' and 'value in rise rose'. The student struggles to use precise terminology to describe trends, often relying on basic phrases like 'going down' or 'remain the year'. While the meaning is generally understandable, the lack of precision and the presence of awkward phrasing hinder the overall quality of the writing. Expanding your range of trend-related vocabulary (e.g., 'fluctuated,' 'surged,' 'declined') would significantly improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with sentence structure, such as fragments ('While table illustrates...') and run-on sentences. Subject-verb agreement is inconsistent, as seen in 'Agricultural Products remain the year' and 'value also going down'. Punctuation is also problematic, with periods placed incorrectly within sentences. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, they are often faulty. To reach a higher band, focus on basic sentence construction and ensure that every sentence has a clear subject and a correctly conjugated verb.
