Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the data, including both the bar chart and the table. However, the analysis is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear, cohesive overview of the trends. While you identified that petroleum products were higher and textiles lower, the description of the data is occasionally inaccurate (e.g., stating agricultural products were the same in both years when the table shows a percentage change). To improve, ensure you accurately interpret the relationship between the chart values and the percentage change table, and focus on highlighting the most significant differences or trends rather than listing every data point.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often repetitive or slightly unnatural, such as 'Another, the table refers that' and 'Besides, engineered goods were higher'. The transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is abrupt. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect your ideas more fluidly, and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through the data.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic. There are frequent spelling errors, such as 'taxtiles' (textiles), 'Agrictural' (agricultural), and 'jwellery' (jewellery). Additionally, some word choices are imprecise, such as 'the table refers that' instead of 'the table indicates that'. To improve, you should practice the spelling of key terms related to the task and aim to use more precise reporting verbs and comparative language to describe the data trends more professionally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. Frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the petroleum products was higher', 'agricultural products changes was lower') and article usage (e.g., 'the higher from all others') occur throughout the text. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the overall score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical agreement and ensuring consistent verb tenses when describing past data will significantly improve your accuracy.
