Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers all parts of the task by summarizing the bar graph and table. However, the analysis is significantly hindered by inaccurate reporting of the data. For example, you state that petroleum products decreased by 1% when the table shows a 3% increase. Similarly, your description of the trends is confusing; you mention '62$' and '61$' as trends, which is unclear and does not accurately reflect the values provided in the chart. While you attempt to select main features, the lack of precision in interpreting the figures prevents a higher score. To improve, ensure that your data points are transcribed accurately and that comparisons are clearly linked to the provided figures.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into four paragraphs, which is a suitable structure for this task. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'Furthermore', and 'In addition' to signal transitions. However, the logical flow is frequently interrupted by confusing phrasing and inaccurate data reporting. For instance, the transition between the bar graph data and the table data is somewhat mechanical. The referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the third paragraph where the connection between the years and the percentages becomes muddled. Improving the clarity of your sentences would help the reader follow your argument more effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is somewhat limited and occasionally inaccurate. You use terms like 'characteristics' instead of 'categories' and 'earrings' instead of 'earnings'. There is also a tendency to use repetitive phrasing, such as 'throughout the period' and 'all over the end of the period'. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'proportion change' and 'upward trend', the misuse of these terms and the confusion regarding units (using '$' incorrectly) limits your score. To reach a higher band, focus on using precise terminology for data description and avoid repetitive or misused words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include 'petroleum products and engineered goods in highest trend' (missing verb) and 'textiles 2015 declined' (missing preposition). There are also issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'agricultural products and textiles was in lowest trend'. While the meaning is generally discernible, the high frequency of errors in basic sentence construction and punctuation prevents a higher score. Focus on ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and a correctly conjugated verb.
