Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers all categories mentioned in the prompt and attempts to report the main features. However, the analysis is inconsistent and contains factual inaccuracies. For example, you state that petroleum products show '60 percents upwards' and 'increased by three percent', which does not accurately reflect the data provided. Furthermore, the comparison for engineering goods is confusing, stating it was 'comparatively higher than 2016' when the data shows an increase. The overview is missing, which is a critical requirement for Task 1. To improve, ensure you clearly identify the overall trends (e.g., which categories grew and which declined) and double-check your data interpretation against the provided visuals.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is organized into short paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. While you use some cohesive devices like 'according to', 'secondly', and 'lastly', the flow between sentences is often disjointed. The lack of a clear introduction and a summary overview makes the structure feel mechanical rather than cohesive. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence regarding engineering goods where the comparison is logically flawed. To improve, focus on grouping related information together and using transition signals more naturally to guide the reader through the data.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'increased', 'shows', and 'value'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'scoring high values of all the trends' and 'slight raise'. Some phrases are awkward, such as 'the given table has been categorized in five exports'. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'experienced a decline', or 'remained stable', and ensure that you use nouns and verbs correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There is a lack of punctuation, with many sentences running together or missing full stops. You also have issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'petroleum products shows' and 'Agricultural products also shows'. There are also errors in tense and preposition usage, such as 'in 1016' (likely a typo for 2016) and 'it was on above 20 percent'. The range of structures is limited to simple sentences. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, proper capitalization, and ensuring that verbs agree with their subjects.
