Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features and providing relevant data comparisons. You successfully highlighted the overall trends and included specific figures from both the chart and the table. However, there is a slight inaccuracy in your analysis; you stated that textiles had the 'highest share' of earnings, whereas the data shows petroleum products consistently generated the highest value. Additionally, the overview could be more precise by focusing on the most significant changes rather than listing all categories. Overall, the response is well-structured and addresses the requirements of the prompt effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on the chart and the table respectively. You use cohesive devices such as 'In contrast,' 'On the other hand,' and 'Although' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by minor mechanical issues, such as the awkward phrasing in the second paragraph ('Although the share towards it decreased... while the remaining showed...'). The use of referencing is generally clear, and the progression of information is easy to follow throughout the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'earnings,' 'generated,' 'substantially,' and 'contributed.' There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'marked considerably above' and 'estimates around,' which are not entirely natural in this context. While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, some phrasing remains slightly repetitive. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring that your terminology for describing trends is consistently accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('The bar chart illustrate,' 'earnings... is,' 'Engineered goods estimates') and punctuation errors (missing spaces after commas and before parentheses). Additionally, the use of all-caps is inappropriate for formal writing. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage will improve your accuracy.
