Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the data, but the analysis is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear overview. While you identify specific figures for petroleum and engineered goods, the summary of the table data is incomplete, as you only mention three categories out of the five provided. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not effectively synthesise the trends. To improve, ensure you group data logically rather than listing figures for each category individually, and provide a more comprehensive overview that highlights the most significant trends or contrasts across both the chart and the table.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is hindered by repetitive sentence structures and awkward transitions. Phrases like 'Moving further' and 'By having a cursory glance' feel forced and do not always connect ideas smoothly. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes inaccurate, such as using 'On the other hand' to introduce a table that complements rather than contrasts with the bar chart. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear focus would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety expected at higher bands. You rely heavily on repetitive phrasing, such as 'the earning is about', which appears multiple times. There are also some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'table chart' (it is either a table or a chart) and 'vivid' (which is not the most appropriate adjective for describing data). To achieve a higher score, try to use a wider range of synonyms for 'increase', 'decrease', and 'value', and focus on more natural collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Issues include incorrect article usage ('the petroleum products'), subject-verb agreement errors ('the table chart show'), and awkward phrasing ('in compared to'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several sentences starting with lowercase letters or lacking proper sentence boundaries. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the clarity of your writing. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for small grammatical slips will help improve your score.
