The chart below shows the value of one country’s exports in various categories during 2015 and 2016. The table shows the percentage change in each category of exports in 2016 compared with 2015.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The bar chart compares the earnings of country's exports in numerous categories during 2015 and 2016 while the table calibrates change in values in percentage.

Overall, petroleum products and engineered goods are the prime commodities of export and all the products experienced gain with only exception of gems and jewellery.

By contrast, petroleum products rose from about 60 billion dollars in 2015 to 63 billion dollars in 2016, an increase of 3%. In addition, engineered goods also inclined to about 60 million dollars in 2016 from about under 57 million dollars, gain of 8.5% across the time period of both the given data years.

Whereas, agricultural products did not showed much growth as it experienced only 0.81% of gain, textiles export showed the most growth from just 16 million dollars in 2015 to more than 30 million dollars in 2016, an increase of 15.24%. However, only gems and jewellery suffered from dip at they decreased from about 41 million dollars to 40 million dollars in 2016, an dip of 5.18%.
