Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address the task by summarizing the provided chart and table. However, the information presented is often inaccurate or confusing. For example, the data for 'petroleum products' and 'engineered goods' is inconsistently reported, and the comparison between the 2015 and 2016 figures is unclear. The summary of the percentage changes in the final paragraph is disjointed and fails to clearly link the table data to the chart data. While the main features are identified, the lack of precision and the presence of contradictory figures mean the response does not fully satisfy the requirements for a clear, accurate overview.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is weak. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inappropriate, such as the abrupt transition 'besides, mostly percentage increase by given time period'. Referencing is often unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the two years. The paragraphing is present but does not effectively group related information, leading to a fragmented structure that hinders the overall progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'ratio of one nation exports' instead of 'value of exports' and 'constant was same' instead of 'remained stable'. The student struggles to use precise terminology related to data description. While the meaning is generally understandable, the lack of variety and the persistent errors in basic terminology restrict the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles ('the' before 'petroleum'), incorrect verb forms ('export' used instead of 'exported'), and punctuation issues. Subject-verb agreement is often ignored, and the sentence construction is frequently awkward. While the errors do not completely prevent communication, they are frequent enough to cause difficulty for the reader and demonstrate a limited control over complex grammatical structures.
