Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have successfully addressed all parts of the task by summarizing the main features of both the bar chart and the table. You identified the key trends, such as the overall growth in most sectors and the specific decline in gems and jewellery. The inclusion of data points to support your observations is good. To reach a higher band, ensure that your comparisons are more integrated; rather than listing the data for the chart and then the table separately, try to synthesize the information by comparing the categories directly across both data sets to provide a more cohesive analytical overview.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs that group information by category. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'on the other hand', and 'Turning to', which helps the reader follow your argument. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The paragraphing is appropriate, and there is a clear progression of ideas throughout the text. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words to connect sentences more fluidly rather than relying on standard transition phrases at the start of every paragraph.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly. You use terms like 'export earnings', 'proportion', and 'increment' effectively. There are some minor inaccuracies, such as '60 billions' (should be '60 billion') and 'textiles market' (should be 'textile sector'). While the vocabulary is adequate for the task, it lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more varied collocations and avoid repeating the same phrasing when describing increases or decreases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is generally effective. However, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'expect the gems' (should be 'except for') and 'Regrading the bar chart' (should be 'Regarding'). Additionally, the use of 'billions' as a plural noun when preceded by a number is incorrect; it should be '60 billion'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct usage of pluralization for large numbers.
