Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task by summarizing the chart and table data. You successfully identified the main features, such as the growth in textiles and the decline in gems and jewellery. However, the overview is slightly inaccurate; stating that export earnings are 'almost same' in every category is misleading, as there are clear differences in the billions of dollars. To improve, ensure your overview highlights the most significant trends or contrasts rather than making broad generalizations that contradict the data. The inclusion of specific figures is good, but ensure the interpretation of those figures is precise.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, moving from an introduction to an overview, followed by detailed body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with' and 'Probing further' to signal transitions. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical. Some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the transition between the chart data and the table data in the final paragraph. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between the two data sets would help elevate the score in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'export earnings', 'percentage change', and 'categories'. There are some minor errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'categorys' (should be 'categories') and 'comparative to' (should be 'compared to'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the meaning, it lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more varied synonyms for 'increased' and 'decreased' and ensure accurate spelling of plural forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('table depict' instead of 'table depicts') and missing articles ('one countrys' instead of 'one country's'). Additionally, there are punctuation errors, such as the missing space after the comma in 'Overall,it'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and punctuation would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
