Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the task but lacks a clear overview, which is essential for Band 6 or higher. While you mention some data points, the selection of information is somewhat disjointed. You attempt to report on both the chart and the table, but the comparison between the two is not fully integrated. For example, you mention 'petroleum products' and 'engineered goods' but fail to synthesize the main trends effectively. To improve, ensure you provide a clear summary of the most significant features (e.g., which category saw the highest growth) in an introductory overview paragraph.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is divided into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical. Phrases like 'in 2015' and 'in 2016' are repeated frequently, making the flow feel repetitive. There is a lack of sophisticated linking words to connect ideas between sentences. To improve, try using a wider variety of transition signals such as 'In contrast,' 'Furthermore,' or 'Conversely' to show the relationship between the different export categories and their respective changes.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic verbs like 'increased' and 'shows' repeatedly. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'is slightly equal to each other' and 'not exporting earning'. To improve, focus on using more precise terminology for describing data, such as 'experienced a marginal rise' or 'remained relatively stable'. Expanding your range of synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' will also help improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('this chart illustrate', 'textile export earning in increased') and article usage. Sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the placement of spaces before periods and the use of capitalization. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like missing 's' on plural nouns and verb tense consistency.
