Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response attempts to summarize the data but fails to provide a clear overview or accurately report the figures. The student describes the trends in a very informal and repetitive manner, using phrases like 'at first we see' and 'after this we continuing our process'. Crucially, the response lacks specific data points (values or percentages), which is a requirement for Task 1. The analysis is vague, referring to 'little bit high' or 'very good ratio' rather than citing the actual export values or percentage changes provided in the prompt. Consequently, the main features are not effectively highlighted or compared.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into three short paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is weak. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and often inappropriate, such as 'at last' used to introduce a list, or 'than they discovered that', which is not suitable for a report. The referencing is unclear, and the flow between sentences is disjointed. The conclusion is repetitive and does not effectively summarize the information presented in the body paragraphs. The overall structure lacks the logical flow expected in an academic report.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. The student relies on basic terms like 'sales', 'products', and 'graph', and uses them incorrectly in context (e.g., 'earning of different products' instead of 'export values'). There is a lack of precision, with phrases like 'little bit high' and 'very good ratio' failing to convey the specific nature of the data. The word choice is often unnatural, such as 'shipping of Agriculture product' and 'in the era of 2016'. The range is insufficient to convey the information accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('they relates'), incorrect prepositions ('in term of'), and awkward sentence structures ('than they discovered that there was far more sales'). The use of tenses is inconsistent, and there is a lack of complex sentence structures. Punctuation is also problematic, with unnecessary commas and run-on sentences. The errors are frequent and pervasive throughout the text, indicating a lack of control over basic grammatical rules.
