Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
You have successfully identified the main features of the data, including the highest and lowest export categories and the trends in percentage change. However, the response lacks precision in reporting the data. For example, you state that textiles and agriculture products had 'equal export earning in 2016, 30 billion dollars', but the chart shows these values are distinct. Furthermore, the description of the trends is somewhat repetitive and lacks a clear, analytical structure. To improve, ensure you accurately transcribe the figures from the chart and group the data more logically to highlight key comparisons rather than listing them category by category.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as starting a sentence with 'In the evident' or 'And second'. The logical progression between ideas is sometimes hindered by these awkward transitions. While you attempt to use linking words like 'However' and 'Whereas', they are not always used to create a smooth flow of information. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking phrases that connect your ideas more naturally and improve the overall flow between sentences.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is somewhat limited and repetitive. You frequently use phrases like 'percentage change in values' and 'growing up', which are not the most precise terms for describing statistical trends. There are also some minor errors in word choice, such as 'maximum in export earnings' instead of 'the highest export earnings'. To improve, try to incorporate more varied and precise vocabulary related to data description, such as 'surged', 'declined', 'fluctuated', or 'accounted for', to demonstrate a more sophisticated range of language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('petroleum products and engineered goods was maximum', 'rest categories was growing up') and awkward phrasing ('In the evident'). Additionally, there are punctuation and spelling errors, such as 'dollors'. While these errors do not completely prevent communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. Focusing on basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring correct tense usage will significantly improve the clarity and accuracy of your writing.
