Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. The content is underdeveloped and incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence. While you attempted to identify some main features, the analysis is fragmented and lacks a clear, cohesive summary of the data provided in the chart and table. To improve, ensure you cover all parts of the prompt, provide a clear overview, and extend your descriptions of the data points to reach the required length. The current response is too brief to fully address the task requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response lacks a logical structure. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the ideas are not well-connected, and the transition between the chart and the table is abrupt. The use of cohesive devices is limited and often misused, such as the awkward start to the second paragraph. The text feels like a collection of isolated sentences rather than a cohesive report. To improve, use linking words like 'furthermore', 'in contrast', or 'consequently' to connect your ideas and ensure each paragraph has a clear focus.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. There are several spelling errors, such as 'petrolium' instead of 'petroleum', 'hieghest' instead of 'highest', and 'engeenering' instead of 'engineering'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. You rely on basic descriptors and struggle with accurate terminology for data reporting. To improve, focus on learning specific collocations for describing trends, such as 'experienced a significant increase' or 'accounted for the largest proportion'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('petrolium products... was'), incorrect verb forms ('was climbed'), and inconsistent tense usage. The sentence structures are simple and often fragmented, particularly at the end of the text. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with erratic capitalization and missing spaces after periods. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subjects and verbs agree, and proofreading for consistent tense usage throughout the report.
