Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

The response effectively addresses all parts of the task. You have successfully identified the main features, such as the growth in most categories and the decline in gems and jewelry, while providing accurate data comparisons between 2015 and 2016. The overview is clear and highlights the key trends appropriately. The data is well-selected to support the summary, and the inclusion of percentage changes alongside the raw figures demonstrates a good analytical approach. The response is well-structured and covers all categories mentioned in the prompt, meeting the requirements for a high-level summary.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The response is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph serves a distinct purpose, moving from an introduction and overview to detailed comparisons. Cohesive devices such as 'By contrast', 'Regarding the remaining categories', and 'Meanwhile' are used effectively to link ideas and guide the reader. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the overview from the specific data analysis. The flow of information is smooth, and the relationship between the bar chart and the table is clearly articulated throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey information with precision, such as 'generated', 'revenue', 'marginally', and 'equivalent to'. However, there are several spelling errors, including 'Ovreall', 'Petrolium', 'jewellry', and 'dcline'. While these do not impede communication, they are noticeable. To reach a higher band, ensure more consistent accuracy in spelling. The use of vocabulary is generally appropriate for an academic report, and you successfully avoid repetitive phrasing by using varied verbs to describe trends.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures effectively. Most sentences are clear and error-free, though there are some minor slips, such as 'Similar , earnings' (missing 'ly' and punctuation issues) and 'equivalent to rise' (missing an article). Additionally, there is a minor subject-verb agreement error in 'export earnings increased' where 'were' or 'had increased' would be more precise. Despite these occasional errors, the grammatical control is strong, and the meaning is never obscured. The punctuation is generally functional, though some spacing issues occur around commas.
