Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the data, including the values for 2015 and 2016 and the percentage changes. However, there are significant inaccuracies in data reporting. For example, you state that petroleum products were '62 million' when the chart indicates billions. Furthermore, you misinterpret the data by stating that agricultural products were 'imported', whereas the prompt refers to 'exports'. The summary of the percentage change is also confusingly phrased, particularly the final sentence regarding the 5.18% change. While you have identified the main trends, the lack of precision in data interpretation and the confusion between imports and exports limit the effectiveness of the response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'In 2016', 'Moreover', and 'In contrast' to link ideas. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. For instance, the transition between the bar graph data and the table data is abrupt. Additionally, some sentences are poorly constructed, such as 'Wheras the 5.18% import down in 2015 to 2016', which lacks a clear subject and verb, making the logical flow difficult to follow in the final paragraph.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The range of vocabulary is adequate to convey the basic meaning, but it is often imprecise or misused. You frequently confuse 'import' with 'export', which is a significant error in an academic task about trade. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'petroleum products were at peaked' (should be 'peaked') and 'this number increase' (should be 'increased'). The use of 'respectivey' is a spelling error. To reach a higher band, you need to use more precise terminology related to data description and ensure that your word forms are accurate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('petroleum products were witnessed 62 million'), incorrect verb tenses ('this number increase'), and missing articles or prepositions. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods and commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic sentence construction prevents the response from reaching a higher band score.
