Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
You have successfully identified the main features of the data, such as the highest earners and the category with the largest percentage increase. However, there are significant inaccuracies in your data reporting. For instance, you state that petroleum products earned '$60 billions' in 2015, whereas the chart indicates $60 billion (the unit is singular). Furthermore, you mention '$57' for engineered goods without specifying the unit, and your calculation for gems and jewellery is contradictory, stating it earned '$43 million' but then 'raise 5.18%' to '$41 million', which is a decrease. Precision is vital in Task 1; ensure your figures and units are consistent with the provided data.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organised into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a clear overview. You use some cohesive devices like 'Similarly' and 'In 2015', which help the flow of information. However, the progression within paragraphs is sometimes repetitive, particularly in the final paragraph regarding agricultural products. The use of referencing is occasionally unclear, and some transitions feel mechanical. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words to connect your comparisons more fluidly rather than relying on simple chronological listing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the main points, such as 'generated', 'experienced', and 'increase'. However, there are several spelling errors ('petrolium', 'peoducts', 'beetween', 'earnde') and issues with word choice and collocation. For example, 'raise' is used incorrectly as a verb where 'rose' or 'increased' would be appropriate. Additionally, the misuse of units (billions vs. millions) and the lack of precision in reporting figures limit your ability to demonstrate a more sophisticated lexical range. Focus on accurate terminology for describing trends.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in verb tense and subject-verb agreement, such as 'this figure raise to' instead of 'this figure rose to' and 'textiles experienced the largest increase' (which is correct) contrasted with 'agricultural products had been least changed'. Punctuation is also problematic, with missing commas and inconsistent capitalisation. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for tense consistency and article usage.
