Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task, providing an overview and specific data points from both the chart and the table. You successfully identified the main trends, such as the growth in most categories and the decline in gems and jewellery. However, the report could be improved by ensuring data accuracy; for instance, you mentioned textiles had a 5.24% jump, but the table indicates 15.24%. Additionally, while you mention the values, the comparison between the two years could be more analytical by grouping categories more effectively. Overall, the response is clear and fulfills the requirements of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices like 'Overall', 'On the other hand', and 'Although' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by minor punctuation errors, such as missing spaces after commas (e.g., 'jewellery, which'). Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the overview from the specific data analysis. To reach a higher band, ensure that your transitions between sentences are smoother and that you avoid repetitive sentence structures, which currently make the progression feel slightly mechanical.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'export earnings', 'percentile jump', and 'comparatively lower'. There are some minor errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'billiion' and 'engineer goods' (instead of 'engineered goods'). While you attempt to use specific terminology related to the data, the range is somewhat limited. To improve, try to incorporate more varied synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' to avoid repetition and enhance the precision of your descriptions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical slips, such as 'the only export went down' (missing a relative pronoun like 'that') and 'made a 3% rise' (should be 'a 3% rise in' or 'rose by 3%'). Punctuation is inconsistent, particularly regarding spacing after commas and periods. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent punctuation will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
