The chart below shows the value of one country’s exports in various categories during 2015 and 2016. The table shows the percentage change in each category of exports in 2016 compared with 2015.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 7.0)

The given barchart demonstrate that the earnings of single country exports in different catagories between 2015 to 2016, and other table illustrates the percentage change in each catagory of exports from 2025 to 2026.

Overall, petroleum products generated the highest revenue in both years, whereas gems and jewellery experienced the only decline in earnings. Additionally, textiles recorded the most significant percentage increase over the period.

In 2015, petroleum products earned the highest amount at approximately $61 billion, which rose by 3% to over $63 billion in 2016. Engineered goods were the second largest export, increasing by 8.5% from $58 billion to about $62 billion. Similarly, agricultural products experienced a slight growth of 0.81%, rising from around $31 billion to $31.2 billion.

In contrast, export earnings from gems and jewellery fell by 5.18%, dropping from around $42 billion to $40 billion. However, textiles saw the largest growth, rising sharply by 15.24% from roughly $26 billion to over $30 billion in 2016.
