Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
You have successfully identified the main features of the data, such as the overall growth in most categories and the decline in gems and jewellery. You also included specific data points to support your descriptions. However, the response is slightly hampered by inaccuracies in interpreting the data; for instance, you describe the petroleum increase as 'almost 3 percent', whereas the table indicates a 3% increase exactly. Additionally, the introduction is inaccurate, as it refers to 'various countries' rather than 'various categories' of exports for a single country. To improve, ensure you carefully distinguish between the categories and the units (billions vs. percentages) to avoid misrepresenting the data.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'Secondly', and 'Finally' to structure your points. However, the flow is sometimes interrupted by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'there is only gems and jewellery products there is decline in there exports', which is grammatically confusing and disrupts the logical progression. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensuring that each sentence connects smoothly to the next without grammatical interference.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey the main trends. You use terms like 'export earnings', 'decline', and 'rise' appropriately. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'interests produce from petroleum' (likely meaning 'export earnings from petroleum') and 'bitter increase' (which is an incorrect adjective choice). There is also a lack of variety in your reporting verbs. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to data trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'experienced a marginal growth'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement, such as 'there is almost raise' and 'which is increases'. You also struggle with prepositions and articles, for example, 'in the export earning of agricultural products is bitter increase'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to distract the reader. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like missing articles or incorrect verb forms after 'which is'.
