Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task by reporting on both the export values and the percentage changes. You have identified the main features, such as the dominance of Petroleum products and the growth in Textiles. However, the analysis is somewhat mechanical, listing figures rather than synthesising them into a cohesive narrative. For example, the description of the percentage values is a simple list rather than a comparative analysis. To improve, focus on grouping data points to highlight trends or significant differences rather than reporting each category individually. The overview is present but could be more clearly defined to capture the most significant trends across both charts.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes repetitive or mechanical, such as the frequent use of 'then' and 'the last was'. Some transitions between sentences feel abrupt, particularly in the third paragraph where you list data points. While there is an overall progression, the logical flow between the two charts could be improved by using more sophisticated linking phrases to compare the data sets more effectively. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the overview, the detailed data, and the percentage analysis.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information, including terms like 'revenue', 'category', and 'percentage values'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'worth of one's countrys exports' (should be 'a country's') and 'opposite revenue' (which is unclear). You rely on basic descriptors like 'highest' and 'lowest' repeatedly. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more varied synonyms for 'increase' or 'decrease' and use more precise terminology to describe the data, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'experienced a marginal rise'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'The Petroleum products... has' (subject-verb agreement) and 'which from 60-62$ Billion' (missing verb). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with double periods appearing at the end of sentences and inconsistent use of the dollar sign placement. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall clarity. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure that your sentences are complete and correctly punctuated.
