Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the data, including the values for 2015 and the percentage changes. However, the analysis is somewhat mechanical, simply listing data points rather than synthesising them into a clear overview or making meaningful comparisons. For instance, the report mentions the values for each category individually but fails to group them effectively to highlight trends. The overview provided is brief and could be more descriptive regarding the overall performance of the export categories. To improve, focus on grouping data to show relationships and ensure the summary highlights the most significant changes rather than just repeating the provided figures.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin', 'However', 'Moreover', and 'Moving further' are used to link sentences. However, some of these transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced. The referencing is generally clear, though the flow between sentences could be improved by varying the structure of the sentences rather than starting most with a time reference or a category name. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate, and the information is presented in a way that is easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, but it lacks sophistication. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'percentage of export of different category' and 'proportion of money earn by selling'. The use of 'germs' instead of 'gems' is a notable error that impacts precision. While the student attempts to use terms like 'increment', 'proportion', and 'decline', the overall control is limited. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring that terminology related to data description is used accurately and naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('it show a slight rise', 'textile was 27 percent which increase'), and incorrect verb forms ('money earn by selling'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are inconsistent spaces before commas. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Increasing the variety of complex structures and proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and tense consistency would significantly improve the quality of the writing.
