Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features and making relevant comparisons. You successfully highlighted the overall trend and provided specific data points for each category. However, there are some inaccuracies in the data reporting. For instance, you stated that Gems declined by 5.18% from 45 billion to 40 billion, but the text mentions 2015 twice instead of 2016. Additionally, the description of textile exports contains a confusion between percentage and currency units, stating '20% in 2015' instead of 20 billion. Improving the precision of data extraction is essential for a higher band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different categories. Cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'In 2015', and 'The exceptional case' help guide the reader through the information. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by minor mechanical errors and some awkward phrasing, such as 'there is one exceptional in which'. While the progression is generally clear, the use of cohesive devices could be more varied to improve the overall fluency of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'illustrates', 'proportion', 'increment', and 'surge'. However, there are several word-choice errors and spelling mistakes, such as 'oved' instead of 'moved', 'incresed', 'mionor', and 'comapred'. These errors do not impede communication, but they indicate a need for more careful proofreading. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise collocations and ensure that technical terms are used accurately in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'exports in four categories increase' should be 'increased') and prepositional errors (e.g., 'exceptional in which' should be 'exception where'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods. These errors occur frequently but rarely impede the reader's understanding. To improve, focus on consistent tense usage and refining sentence structure to reduce minor errors.
