Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the chart and table, but the analysis is inconsistent and contains factual inaccuracies. For example, you state that petroleum products were at 60% in 2016, but the data provided in the prompt is often misinterpreted or misquoted. Furthermore, the comparison between categories is sometimes confusing, such as stating that textiles and agriculture were the same proportion without clear evidence. To improve, ensure you accurately extract data from the visual aids and focus on highlighting the most significant trends and differences rather than listing individual figures. The overview is present but lacks a clear summary of the most striking differences between the two years.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression between ideas is often weak. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inappropriate, such as the abrupt transition in the final paragraph starting with 'The table predicts the data'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between 2015 and 2016. While there is an attempt to group information, the lack of clear signposting and the repetitive structure of sentences hinder the flow of the response. Improving the use of linking words like 'consequently', 'in contrast', or 'meanwhile' would help connect your ideas more effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'textiles recorder at lowest percentage' and 'engineered goods that is have very minimal difference'. The use of 'predicts' to describe historical data is also inaccurate; 'presents' or 'illustrates' would be more appropriate. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'experienced a significant increase', and work on improving your collocation skills.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('the petroleum products was', 'textiles remains'), incorrect verb forms ('that is have'), and missing articles. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While there is an attempt to use complex sentences, they are often faulty, which limits the range of structures demonstrated. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and practicing the correct use of relative clauses to combine ideas more fluidly.
