Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address the task by describing the chart and table, but it fails to provide a clear overview or highlight the most significant trends. The analysis is often inaccurate; for example, stating that petroleum products remained the same when the data shows a clear percentage change. The description of the data is repetitive and lacks the analytical depth required for a Band 6 or higher. Key features, such as the significant growth in textiles compared to the decline in gems and jewellery, are mentioned but not effectively synthesised or compared in a professional manner.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inappropriate, such as starting a paragraph with 'Well, in year 2015'. There is a lack of variety in linking words, and the transition between the chart description and the table analysis is abrupt. Referencing is often unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the two years. The structure needs to be more formal and cohesive to improve the flow of information.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'same', 'little bit', and 'earning'. There are several instances of inaccurate word choice, such as 'ratio of earning' instead of 'export value' or 'percentage change'. Spelling errors, such as 'differnent', 'chnages', and 'agricultre', are frequent and distracting. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the data with the precision expected in an Academic Task 1 response. To improve, you should focus on using more precise terminology related to data trends.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('export earnings... remains same') and punctuation errors. Sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity. There are many run-on sentences and missing articles, which impede the clarity of the writing. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focus on mastering basic sentence structure and proofreading for common errors.
