Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the data, including the categories of exports and their percentage changes. However, the overview is weak; it merely repeats the prompt rather than highlighting the most significant trends, such as the overall growth in most sectors versus the decline in gems and jewelry. The analysis is somewhat mechanical, listing figures without sufficient synthesis or comparison between categories. To improve, you should group the data more effectively (e.g., grouping growing sectors versus declining ones) and provide a clear, concise summary of the main trends in the introduction or as a separate overview paragraph.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is organised into a single paragraph, which makes it difficult to follow. While there is some attempt at logical sequencing using transition words like 'First of all', 'Secondly', and 'Addition to this', the lack of paragraph breaks hinders the overall structure. Cohesive devices are used, but they are somewhat repetitive and mechanical. To reach a higher band, you must use clear paragraphing to separate the introduction, the overview, and the body paragraphs. Additionally, ensure that referencing is clear; for instance, 'the country's exports' is vague when referring to the specific data points provided in the chart.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You rely on basic verbs like 'increased' and 'fell down' repeatedly. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'affectively increased' (likely meant 'effectively' or 'significantly') and 'on large scale of'. To improve, try to use a wider range of synonyms for change, such as 'surged', 'plummeted', 'experienced a marginal rise', or 'witnessed a decline'. Avoid informal phrasing like 'fell down' in an academic report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('chart illustrate', 'products export which are increases'), missing articles ('in country'), and awkward sentence construction ('The country's exports in the year of 2015 to the year 2016 agricultural products export increased'). The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structure, ensuring correct verb tenses, and using articles appropriately. Incorporating more complex structures, such as relative clauses or participial phrases, would also help demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
