Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have identified some of the data points, such as the 3% increase in petroleum and the 15.24% growth in textiles, the analysis is superficial. You have included personal opinions (e.g., 'because everything is running on petrol') which are not appropriate for an Academic Task 1 report. The task requires an objective summary of the data provided, not an explanation of why the trends occurred. To improve, focus on reporting the figures accurately and comparing the categories without adding external commentary.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The response lacks paragraphing and is written as a single, run-on block of text. There is a lack of logical progression, and the use of cohesive devices is very limited. Phrases like 'the other one' and 'the 3rd one' are informal and do not effectively link ideas. To improve, you should structure your response into clear paragraphs: an introduction, an overview of the main trends, and specific details. Use transition words such as 'In contrast,' 'Furthermore,' or 'Conversely' to help the reader follow your comparison of the data.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying heavily on simple verbs like 'growing' and 'increase'. There are also spelling errors such as 'germs' (likely intended as 'gems') and 'nd' (and). The phrasing is often informal and lacks the precision required for an academic report. To achieve a higher band, you should use a wider range of vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated,' 'remained stable,' 'experienced a decline,' or 'witnessed a significant surge.' Avoid informal language and ensure you use accurate terminology for the categories provided in the chart.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including run-on sentences, incorrect verb tenses, and missing articles. For example, 'the graph is showing that how percent they grow there export business' is grammatically incorrect and difficult to follow. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the punctuation is largely absent, which makes the text difficult to read. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and using correct punctuation. Practice writing clear, simple sentences before attempting more complex structures.
