Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all parts of the task by summarizing the main features of the chart and table. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with accurate data from the provided figures. The comparison between the two years is well-integrated. To reach a higher band, ensure that you avoid minor inaccuracies in data reporting; for instance, you stated that engineered goods reached 62 billion dollars, but the chart indicates 62 billion for 2016, while the percentage change is 8.5%. Your selection of key features is effective, and the response is well-balanced across all categories provided in the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs that group the data effectively. You use cohesive devices such as 'Similarly', 'In addition to this', and 'On the other hand' to guide the reader through the information. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the increasing categories from the declining one. The progression of ideas is smooth, and the referencing is clear throughout the text. The structure is logical and easy to follow, meeting the requirements for a high band in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information precisely, using terms like 'export earnings', 'nominal incline', and 'skyrocketed'. While the vocabulary is generally accurate and appropriate for an academic report, there is room to incorporate more sophisticated collocations or less common lexical items to reach the highest bands. The word choices are natural and do not impede communication. You avoid repetition by using varied verbs to describe the trends, which shows good control over the topic-specific vocabulary required for this task.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures effectively. Most of your sentences are error-free, and your control over grammar and punctuation is generally strong. There are minor issues with preposition usage and article placement, such as 'in which engineered goods value was increased', which is slightly clunky. However, these errors are infrequent and do not hinder the reader's understanding. To improve, focus on refining the flow of complex sentences to ensure they sound more natural and sophisticated, as this will help you achieve a higher score in grammatical range.
