Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
You have identified the main features of the data, such as the growth in petroleum and the decline in gems and jewellery. However, the response lacks a clear overview of the trends, which is essential for a high band score. You have included specific data points, but the comparison between categories is somewhat limited. Additionally, there are some inaccuracies in the data reporting; for instance, you mention textiles grew by 15.24%, but the table shows this figure for another category. Ensure that you carefully cross-reference the chart and table to avoid misinterpretation of the data.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow between sentences is often disjointed. You rely on basic transitions like 'but' and 'also', which makes the writing feel repetitive. There is a lack of sophisticated cohesive devices to link ideas smoothly. Furthermore, the paragraphing is not used effectively to group related information; for example, the second paragraph is quite long and covers multiple categories without clear thematic separation. Improving the use of linking words such as 'conversely', 'in contrast', or 'meanwhile' would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety expected at higher levels. You use repetitive phrasing such as 'the exports of... was about' and 'it will increase'. There are also some spelling errors, such as 'yeras', 'exoprts', 'impresive', and 'engireered', which detract from the professional tone. To improve, try to incorporate a wider range of synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' and ensure you check your spelling carefully before submitting your work.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('it will increase' instead of 'it increased'), tense inconsistencies ('it would rises'), and missing articles. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several missing spaces after commas and periods. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence construction limit the score. Focus on mastering basic sentence structures and proofreading for tense consistency to improve your accuracy.
