The chart below shows the value of one country’s exports in various categories during 2015 and 2016. The table shows the percentage change in each category of exports in 2016 compared with 2015.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The chart compares export earnings across five different categories of products between 2015 and 2016, while the table details the exact changes in percentage during this period. Overall, exports have generally imroved across all categories, with the textile sector showing the biggest imrpovement, while Agricultural products recorded the lowest increment. In contrast, gems and jewelley was the only category to see a decline.

Petroleum products and engineered goods consistently outperformed the other categories in terms of export earnings, with the former earning around $61 billion in 2015 to $62 billion, a rise of around 3%, in 2016 and the latter exporting around 57 to 62 billion dollars, an increase of 8.5%, during this time period. Additionally, the textile sector experienced the highest surge, climbing from $28 billion to $32 billion, resulting in a dramatic increase of around 15.24%

COnversely, gems and jewellery declined in export earnings, falling from 42 to 40 billion dollars, a 0.81 fall
