Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the data, including the overall trend and specific category comparisons. However, there is a significant factual error in the final paragraph: you state that gems and jewellery 'dipped slightly' from $30 billion to $31 billion, which is a contradiction in terms and mathematically incorrect based on the provided data. Furthermore, you describe the percentage changes as 'percentage points,' which is technically inaccurate in this context; these are percentage changes, not percentage point differences. While the main trends are identified, the accuracy of the data reporting needs to be much more precise to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs that group the data effectively. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly,' 'Secondly,' and 'Finally' are used to guide the reader through the information. However, the referencing is occasionally mechanical, and the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas is generally clear, though the internal logic of the final paragraph is undermined by the data reporting error mentioned in the task achievement section.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'depicts,' 'illustrates,' 'substantial increase,' and 'minimal increase.' However, there are some awkward collocations and word choice issues, such as 'an alterations' (grammatical error) and 'faced decrease in values.' The use of 'percentage points' is a misuse of a technical term. To improve, focus on using more precise reporting verbs and ensuring that your vocabulary choices are contextually accurate. The range is sufficient to convey the main points, but lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'an alterations,' 'the textiles experienced,' and 'the gems and jewellery group had faced decrease.' Additionally, there are punctuation and formatting issues, such as the inconsistent spacing and the error in '57billions' (the space is missing, and 'billions' should not be pluralized when preceded by a number). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the response from reaching a higher band.
